The society is growing, the needs of people are increasing, including the need for traveling and especially the aviation transport market of Vietnam. Up to now, some international airports have operated beyond the designed capacity of terminals, especially Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat. In 2018, there was an overload situation: Some constructions (runways, taxiways, aprons) have appeared damaged, degraded, if there is no timely handling measures will lead to passive, the damage will be more serious.
Heavy Weight Deflectometer (HWD) is used to determine the deflection of the pavement under the effect of simulated dynamic load (impulse) for aircraft wheel movement. The magnitude of the action load may vary with the critical load or the design load of an aircraft's single wheel equivalent. Users can use specialized software to process the data collected for the work condition assessment or design work which is according to the requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, TCVN and in accordance with the practices and requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
In January 2019, with the support of the Corporation of Vietnam Airport, Tan Son Nhat International Airport, many domestic and foreign enterprises, relevant units have conducted the test. Pave®HWD airport deflection gauges from PaveTesting (UK) for field data collection, in-room data processing and calculation of the airport's pavement classcification number (PCN).
Not only that, we hope that other advanced and modern equipment will be invested and used in Vietnam to solve the current urgent problems of transport infrastructure, also for contributing to the overall development of the country.
